My name is Scott Cable, and I'm a product leader focused on leading cross-functional teams in complex environments to produce the best work possible.
I work on projects that combine mobile and web software development with innovation and design, working with business, technology, UX and product / service design teams.
Always trying to get things done faster and better, constantly on the look out for the new and innovative, whether it is a new development methodology, productivity approach or the latest wearable tech.
I currently live and work in London, England.
I've been delivering mobile and web software development projects for a while now, in development, architecture, product and project leadership roles.
This has given me the opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge of mobile, web and enterprise technologies; it has also meant getting to grips with a broad range of development, product and project design & delivery approaches, including agile, lean, scrum, kanban, scrumban, lean startup, design thinking, lean ux and others.
I've taken projects through the entire product and project life cycle, joining initiatives prior to initiation, helping to develop the marketing strategy, write the business case, determine, test and refine the mvp, through to initial and subsequent releases. I've also joined in-flight teams, helping to drive efficiencies, ensure stabilisation of delivery cadence, or to shake things up when a change in direction is required. I am almost always in the hot seat for designing the delivery framework and the tuning and execution thereof.
In the past few years I have been going back to my development and architecture roots, working on mobile and web architecture, RESTful APIs, iOS and Android.

I was innovation and customer experience project manager for a number of exciting initiatives, including a new customer proposition and business area for the bank, and a new crowdfunding platform. I was also product manager for a new customer insights service that combined internal and third party data for the benefit of Barclays customers.
Enterprise Mobile | Technical PM
Oct 2012 – Jan 2013
At Visa Europe I performed technical project management and delivery director duties. I transitioned a Good Technology pilot to a fully supported corporate IT service, kicked-off a corporate-wide identity and access management programme, and also managed an Ab Initio upgrade project across Visa’s critical systems.
Digital | CMS Platform | Lean & CI | Agile teams
May 2012 – Sep 2012
I was agile coach and leader of the digital marketing IT team, which provided analysis, development and testing services to the digital, customer services and marketing departments. Already familiar with Wiley as a technical book author and reviewer, I joined their Online Library team as an agile project manager. I was responsible for a £1.2m project to re-architect Wiley's digital publishing platform, which aimed to improve user experience, increase revenue, ease of use and adoption of the platform by content providers, lower maintenance costs, and enable the retirement of legacy platform components.
Cloud / SaaS | Agile adoption | Lean & CI | Development Manager
Sep 2008 – Jan 2011
Deutsche Börse Services is a Prague-based ‘captive’ near shore centre set up to provide application development services to Frankfurt-based Deutsche Börse, one of the world’s largest exchange organisations. Initially joining as technical project manager, I was promoted to the role of development manager, responsible for a team of 30 developers and testers. Whilst at Deutsche Börse I delivered the market coupling service, the intraday capacity service, and was also responsible for the delivery of the comxerv commodity exchange service, as well as leading continuous improvement initiatives in areas such as development process, source code management, issue tracking and quality assurance.

Ecommerce | CRM | Project Manager | Agile teams
2004 – 2006
As part of a strategic digital programme that sought to align and integrate web, retail and telesales channels, I delivered projects totalling £1.5m. Overall customer experience improved significantly as a result, with the web becoming a more dominant self-service channel, as indicated by increased traffic as well as reduced calls to customer service.

Digital | Mobile & Web Development
1997 – 2001
My first proper jobs after finishing university were at two marketing and technology agencies, the first of which is now part of DigitasLBi. I started out as a client-side web developer, later moving into server-side java. During this time I was fortunate enough to work on some pretty cool projects, including the development of UK’s first multi-device (mobile + web) portal.
Experience and expertise is supported by certifications from the Scrum Alliance (Certified ScrumMaster), the British Computer Society (Test Foundation, ITIL) and APMG (PRINCE2 Practitioner). I am also looking at The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF).
My education background is a mix of humanities, cognitive and social sciences. Most recently I studied business at MBA level, the final project of which investigated the challenges encountered by large incumbent firms launching new-to-business service innovations.
